Parental Consent
True Intel Ltd, trading as TRUE. Registered in England and Wales, company no. 17255261. ICO registration no. CSN5763647.
Information for parents and guardians. If your child is 16 or 17, they need your consent before they can take part in TRUE. This page explains what TRUE is, what your child would do, how we keep them safe and how consent works.
1. About TRUE
TRUE rewards young people for giving honest feedback on the shops, products and services they already use. Taking part is always voluntary. Your child chooses which activities to do and can stop at any time.
Activities include:
- Mystery shop: visiting a store and reporting on the service, staff and displays.
- Product trial: trying a product and sharing what they think.
- Insight pulse: answering quick questions about brands on their phone.
- Unboxing: sharing first impressions as they open a product.
Each activity shows its reward before your child accepts it. Rewards are paid by bank transfer once the report has passed our quality review.
2. Keeping your child safe
- Activities take place in ordinary, public shops during normal opening hours.
- We never ask under-18s to buy, handle or seek out anything age-restricted, such as alcohol, tobacco, vapes, gambling, knives, fireworks or adult products.
- Your child is never asked to go anywhere unsafe, or to be alone with an adult connected to TRUE or a client.
- If your child feels uncomfortable at any time, they should leave and tell us. No activity is worth putting themselves at risk.
- Your child can always talk to you about TRUE and any activity they are doing.
Our Safeguarding Policy explains how we protect young people in more detail.
3. How consent works
Step 1 — Your child signs up
They give their date of birth and your name and contact details.
Step 2 — Your child attaches a consent photo
At sign up, your child will be asked to submit a photo of you holding your passport as your consent. The photo is stored on a secure, GDPR compliant database and can be removed on request. Your child will not be booked for activities without a parental photo granting consent.
Step 3 — You receive a confirmation email
When your child signs up, we send you a confirmation email so you know they have registered with TRUE.
No one under 18 can take part until we have your consent. We do not accept anyone under 16.
4. Photos, voice and video
Some activities, such as unboxing, may involve capturing your child's image, voice or video. These always need separate consent from both you and your child. We will explain exactly how the content will be used, stored and deleted before asking.
5. Your child's data
We collect your child's contact details and basic profile, such as their region and shopping preferences, to match them to suitable activities. We also keep their activity reports. We use this to run the panel, pay rewards and produce insight for brands. Brands receive findings, not your child's contact details.
We never sell personal information. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
6. Your rights
- You or your child can withdraw consent at any time, easily and without penalty. If consent is withdrawn, your child's account is closed and their data is handled as set out in our Privacy Policy.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your child's data.
- When your child turns 18, they will be asked to confirm they want to continue as an adult member.
